Join us on a nature-filled getaway to the beautiful island of Sri Lanka where history, culture and culinary abundance merge with beaches, jungles and animals. One of our team’s favorite destinations, Sri Lanka and it’s people hold a special place in our heart for their hospitality and warmth. This 10 day tour takes you up and down the coast of Sri Lanka and into it’s hinterland, home to it’s precious rainforests and ethical wildlife jeep safaris. Explore the depth of flavors and spices as we take a plant-based culinary journey with local chefs. Immerse yourself in one of Sri Lanka’s last standing rainforests where all you hear are monkeys and birds. Take a deep breath as we go on a meditative and respectful animal safari. What's on the Itinerary?
DAY 1, DECEMBER 3RD | ARRIVALS, MINGLING AND WELCOME DINNER
Our team will pick you up at Colombo International Airport. After some rest and relaxation, we will have a candle-lit welcome dinner and get to know the amazing people that will be on this journey with you.

DAY 2, DECEMBER 4TH | VILLAGE IMMERSION + SUNSET ON THE BEACH
Join us for breakfast and orientation into the rich culture of Ceylon and the adventure ahead. After a morning of poolside relaxation, we will catch tuk-tuks and immerse ourselves in the nearby village. We’ll meet locals, small businesses and factories and maybe even a Buddhist monk. The highlight of the day is a quaint river crossing followed by a vegan sunset dinner on the beach.

DAY 3, DECEMBER 5TH | COLOMBO ART AND HISTORY + SRI LANKAN VEGAN COOKING CLASS
After a morning yoga session and breakfast, we will walk around Colombo exploring historic architecture and museums, its’ colonial past and progressive modern art scene. After the museum, we will jump into a colorful and bustling Sri Lankan spice and fruit market. For dinner, we will have a cooking class with a vegan chef who’ll teach us Sri Lankan favorites like cashew curry, coconut sambol, string hoppers and how to eat on a lotus leaf.

DAY 4, DECEMBER 6TH | MANGROVE PROTECTION & RURAL DEVELOPMENT
After breakfast, we will ride down Sri Lanka’s coast. We’ll visit a rural mangrove protection project to prevent the destruction of flora, fauna and entire communities against catastrophic flooding, We’ll learn about mangrove restoration, environmental education and encouraging agricultural biodiversity. Highlight of the day? Learning about rare medicinal plants available only in Sri Lanka. In the evening, we’ll drive down the Sri Lankan coast and head to our hotel close to the beach.

DAY 5, DECEMBER 7TH | SUN SHOWERS IN A TROPICAL RAIN FOREST
We’ll wake up early to spend the day in Sri Lanka’s last viable area of primary tropical rainforest. Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the rainforest is an ongoing conservation and protection effort. We’ll hike through the forest exploring rare species of birds, reptiles, flora and fauna that are endemic to Sri Lanka and hidden waterfalls. Bring your bathing suit if you want to jump in!

DAY 6, DECEMBER 8TH | FREE DAY
A day to rest, get massages, or simply reflect and sip coconut water, eating fresh fruit and spending time privately or in small groups. We will have recommended activities for those that want a little bit more of an active day. We’ll meet tonight for dinner.

DAY 7, DECEMBER 9TH | WILDLIFE JEEP SAFARI
In order to ethically observe wildlife, we will visit a national park attached to a center that is rehabilitating elephants to put them back into their natural habitat. From a distance in the jeep, and making minimal noise in order to respect their space, we will observe going about their daily routines near the river or in the forest through a jeep tour. Our tourism will not support elephant rides, bathing or touching the elephants and other activities that disturb the animals. A portion of this trip’s fees will go toward the ongoing welfare and release of these elephants back into their natural habitat.

DAY 8, DECEMBER 10TH | A COASTAL ROAD TRIP + GOODBYE DINNER
After an early morning breakfast, we’ll begin our road trip back to Colombo along the beautiful coast. After we settle into our hotel, we will have a sunset picnic by the water with local friends followed by a night of live music and drinks to celebrate our Vegan Adventure in Sri Lanka.

DAY 9, DECEMBER 11TH | LAST MINUTE SHOPPING + AIRPORT DROP OFF
After a final breakfast, we will arrange airport drop offs throughout the day and night. For those with late night flights, spend the day doing Ayurvedic massage and herbal bath soaks with lotus leaves, last minute shopping or relaxing at a book store. Today we leave for Colombo airport with many memories and new friends.
