Get a taste of Southern California on this intimate long weekend adventure, lovingly hosted by the Ahimsa Travel Club team and designed to showcase the natural beauty and soul of San Diego. We’re taking you on walking tours of our favorite neighborhoods like La Jolla, where ocean views and sea air invite us to slow down, Spanish Village and Little Italy where we’ll be tasting delicious vegan food and the range of California’s fresh produce and flavors. Your weekend will be filled with exploring the spirit of San Diego, walking tours through bio-diverse botanical gardens, creative art workshops designed to connect with yourself, and nourishing yoga sessions weaving together culture, nature and well-being.
San Diego is one of the most vegan-friendly cities in the U.S., and to ensure we savor every delicious bite, we’ll be going to some of the best vegan restaurants around the city for shared meals each day. With insider knowledge and a thoughtfully paced itinerary, this weekend is designed to uplift our spirits filled with exceptional food, artistic expression, mindful movement, and a deeper connection to San Diego’s laid back seaside culture.

(includes all activities, trip leaders, guided tours, and meals. We will also have a mini-van that fits 8 people for most of the days to take you around the city).

DAY 1, MAY 13th | WELCOME TO SAN DIEGO
Welcome to San Diego! Tonight we gather for a warm and grounding welcome to the weekend. After settling in, we’ll come together for an intimate opening evening hosted by the Ahimsa team. The night begins with a deeply relaxing sound healing session, offering a chance to arrive fully and unwind. We’ll then enjoy a beautifully prepared plated, three-course vegan dinner by local chefs, shared in an intimate setting at one of our team member’s homes. Whether you are new to an Ahimsa adventure or a past traveler, this evening will feel like being in the company of your community.

DAY 2, MAY 14TH | EXPLORING SAN DIEGO
We start the day with brunch a beloved, 100% vegan café known for its soulful food and welcoming atmosphere. From there, we head out for a guided walking tour of La Jolla, taking in dramatic coastal views, ocean air, and the chance to see the famous sea lions along the cliffs. There will be time to linger, explore, and enjoy the natural beauty that defines this part of San Diego. After lunch, you have some time to explore at your own pace or continue walking through the city with us hopping in and out of local shops. In the evening, we reconvene for a relaxed vegan dinner, continuing our culinary exploration and shared conversations.

DAY 3, MAY 15th | EXPLORING THE CULTURAL HEART OF SAN DIEGO & BOTANICAL GARDENS
Today we explore North Park, one of San Diego’s most vibrant and creative neighborhoods. We’ll enjoy lunch at Tacotarian, a casual and colorful vegan favorite, followed by free time to wander local shops and soak in the neighborhood’s energy. In the afternoon, we head to Balboa Park, San Diego’s cultural heart. Together we’ll stroll through gardens and artistic spaces, including the Spanish Village Art Center, the Botanical Building, and a docent-led visit to the Japanese Friendship Garden. We’ll also visit the Mingei International Museum, celebrating craft and design from around the world. For dinner we’ll enjoy great food, an outdoor sculpture garden, and often live music, a spirited way to end our adventure together.

DAY 4, MAY 16th | ART, CREATIVITY, & LITTLE ITALY
Saturday is devoted to hands-on creativity. We spend the morning and afternoon at Abrazos Art Studio, where we’ll participate in guided art workshops using mixed media, collage, and journaling techniques. No prior art experience is needed—just curiosity and openness. After lunch, we’ll have an afternoon art session and have pieces to bring back home with us. Tonight, we head to Little Italy for a celebratory dinner at Civico 1845, a standout destination for elevated vegan Italian cuisine.

DAY 5, MAY 17th | YOGA & FAREWELL
Join us for a final morning begins with a slow-flow yoga class outside in the beautiful San Diego weather, led by a local teacher. The practice is accessible to all levels and offers a beautiful closing ritual for the weekend. After yoga, let’s go to a coffee stop nearby before heartfelt goodbyes. Depart for your flight feeling nourished, inspired, and connected having experienced San Diego through food, art, movement, and new Ahimsa friends!
