ESCAPE TO VERMONT: A VEGAN ADVENTURE

Join Ahimsa Travel Club this summer, for a restful vegan weekend in Vermont's serene Northeast Kingdom. We’re taking you on a a soul-nourishing nature immersion as we spend the weekend exploring the retreat's 115-acre sanctuary, featuring rolling hills, gardens, and forest trails. We’ll eat nourishing, vegan cuisine prepared with locally sourced ingredients, some harvested directly from the retreat's gardens. Enhance your well-being through daily yoga sessions in the spacious Retreat Barn, complemented by guided forest walks by Paula, and excursions with us like exploring local small towns and small businesses. Experience a much-needed digital detox, allowing you to reconnect with yourself and the natural world, free from electronic distractions. Choose from cozy accommodations, including the historic Retreat Barn and charming cabins, providing a comfortable and rustic getaway. From meditation gazebos to swimming ponds, take a breather during the free time to go within.

What's on the Itinerary? 

DAY 1, JULY 17TH | WELCOME TO VERMONT

Check in to the retreat center starting at 3 PM and onwards and you’ll be welcomed by our team (Prachi and Paula!). Lounge with us on the patio as we sip tea and admire the organic vegetable gardens all over the property. Spend some time walking around the hilltops or take a dip in the nearby pond. Tonight, we’ll have a welcome dinner full of locally grown, seasonal New England veggies and herbs.

DAY 2, JULY 18TH | REJUVENATING IN NATURE

Wake up to the stillness of the Vermont countryside and let’s begin our day with an optional morning yoga in the retreat barn, to gently awaken the body. After a nourishing vegan breakfast, we'll set off on a guided hike through the rolling meadows, forest paths, and serene landscapes. Along the way, you'll learn about the local flora, fauna, and the land’s natural rhythms. The afternoon invites you to slow down and explore—wander the gardens, journal by the pond, or simply soak in the peaceful surroundings. As the sun begins to dip, we'll gather for a guided meditation session in the quiet of nature, offering space for reflection and stillness. The day winds down with a wholesome vegan dinner and quiet time under the stars—no screens, just the sounds of the night and a deep sense of presence.

DAY 3, JULY 19TH | LOCAL CHARM & A QUINTESSENTIAL NEW ENGLAND VILLAGE

Today, we venture into the nearby town of Hardwick, a quaint and welcoming village known for its vibrant local culture and classic New England character.. After a light morning yoga flow and breakfast, you'll have time to stroll through charming shops, visit local artisans, and enjoy a relaxed vegan-friendly lunch at one of the cozy cafés in town—maybe even a stop at a tucked-away coffee shop. In the afternoon, we’ll visit Moss Glen Falls, where a gentle hike leads us through lush forest to a beautiful water cascade—perfect for a mindful moment or dipping our feet in. As we return to Sky Meadow, we’ll wind down with quiet reflection, optional meditation, or a sunset circle under the open sky. The evening brings our goodbye dinner and time to simply be—grateful, grounded, and glowing from the day’s beauty.

DAY 4, JULY 20TH | SLOW MORNING AND A GOODBYE

Our last morning together will have an optional yoga class, journaling time and breakfast together. If you book an evening flight back home, take in the last bits of nature or stop by in Burlington, Vermont on your way back to explore a city full of artists, incredible vegan food, eco-conscious shops and a reminder that there are so many incredible communities that exist around us.

ACCOMMODATION

We will be staying at the peaceful nature sanctuary, Sky Meadow. First established in 1989, Sky Meadow has long offered a unique haven to experience deep relaxation and rejuvenation, surrounded by the stunning nature of Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom. Sky Meadow Retreat's lovingly converted Retreat Barn, cabins & cottages, and many gathering spaces are filled with with hand-built touches that exude the Vermont ethos of abundance through simplicity, love of nature, emphasis on resourcefulness and sustainability, and of course a nice side of quirkiness. Caretakers Brendan and Erin also cultivate vegetable gardens and food forests to supply our catered retreats with beautiful fresh food grown with organic, permaculture-informed practices. There are plentiful private rooms available, cabins are available on a first come first serve basis.
